چکیده

Muscle atrophy is the loss of muscles bulk; it can be a partial or complete wasting away of muscle. Herein, we describe a 56-year-old man with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma underwent F-18 FDG PET for postchemotherapy evaluation. Fused PET/CT image showed a successful response to treatment and an interesting instance of complete muscle vanishing, attributed to poliomyelitis sequelae. Muscle atrophy seen in polio patients is the result of destruction of motor neurons caused by the poliovirus. CT and MRI are prevalent tools for assessing muscular pathology. As a glucose analog, F-18 FDG PET can provide greater insight into glucose metabolism of the skeletal muscle. F-18 FDG distribution is the crucial information to make it possible for clinicians to fully interpret the functional integrity of the muscles, and to determine if specifi c procedures are benefi cial. Straightforward exhibition of F-18 FDG uptake appears to add validity of donor muscle selection before polio-corrective surgery, and of monitoring after treatment. Diagnostic performance of 18F-FDG PET-CT in patients presenting with secondary neck nodes from an unknown primary

Introduction: Clinical examination and even anatomical imaging may fail to identify primary site of malignancy in patients presenting with cervical nodal metastasis. 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Computed Tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) is known to overcome the limitations of anatomic imaging. Methods: Sixty-three (63) patient...

Factors influencing the pattern and intensity of myocardial 18F-FDG uptake in oncologic PET-CT imaging

Introduction:Myocardial 18F-FDG uptake is highly variable in oncologic whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT studies, ranging from quite intense to minimal distribution. Intense or heterogeneous myocardial 18F-FDG uptake is undesirable as it may interfere with the visual or quantitative evaluation of tumoral invasion and metastases in pericardium, myocardiu...

F-18 FDG PET/CT Imaging of Eccrine Sweat Gland Carcinoma of the Scrotum with Extensive Regional and Distant Metastases

Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. It usually spreads to regional lymph nodes, with liver, lungs, and bones being the most common sites of distant metastasis. Because of tumor rarity, little is known about the value of F18- FDG PET/CT...

Inflammatory Pseudotumor in the Epidural Space of the Lumbosacral Spine on F-18 FDG PET/CT

An inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a rare benign lesion, characterized by nonneoplastic proliferation of inflammatory cells and presence of intermingling collagen fibers. IPT commonly occurs in the lungs and orbita, while an intraspinal IPT is extremely rare. IPT can mimic both clinically and radiologically malignant processes, and making a definitive preoperative diagnosis is often difficult...

Generalized lymph node activation after Influenza vaccination on 18F FDG-PET/CT imaging, an important pitfall in PET interpretation

We report on a 59-year-old female patient with an infected vascular graft investigated with 18F FDG-PET/CT. The first of two studies showed FDG activity in the left deltoid and ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes explained by influenza vaccination the day prior. The second 18F FDG-PET/CT showed multiple FDG-avid lymph nodes on both sides of the diaphragm without tracer accumulation at the vaccinat...
